Superintendent Stephen Dempsey said that the school is working with the state’s Department of Conservation and Recreation, Department of Agricultural Resources, Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Association and companies producing cranberry products to revitalize the industry, where the average age of cranberry growers is over 60.
The worry is that no one will be coming along to take their places when they retire, so the school, the state and private concerns are working on a program to get kids interested in the business.
