Notice of CMC Regulatory Subcommittee Meeting
Notice is hereby given that the CMC’s Regulatory Subcommittee will hold its initial meeting on November 5, 2010 in the Narragansett Room at the Hampton Inn, 2100 Post Road, Warwick, RI. The meeting will commence at 9:00 am. This is an open meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to review the market situation, review regulatory provisions of the marketing order, and consider development of a regulatory plan for the 2011 crop year. The subcommittee will report its findings and recommendation to the full Committee at its February 2011 meeting in Arlington, VA.
2010 Crop Estimate Revised
CMC | October 2010
The CMC conducted an informal poll of larger handlers in order to determine preliminary 2010 domestic crop production. Polling results indicate the crop at 6.7-6.9M barrels. This would reflect a 600,000-800,000 barrel decrease from the Committee’s August estimate of 7.5M barrels. The National Agricultural Statistics Service had estimated the crop at 7.4M barrels in their August report.
CMC has also received indications that the Canadian crop may also be lower, which may reduce the amount of foreign fruit the Committee had earlier estimated would be entering the U.S.
